300.000 activated Android devices per day
Android is the second popular mobile platform after Nokia’s Symbian OS, but it is the most fast growing OS over the world. According to Andy Rubin, Google’s vice president of engineering, every day is being activated over 300.000 Android devices.
This means that Android has passed iOS in this area, as several days ago once Gingerbread 2.3 was released, Google announced there are about 1.5 million android activations each week, which equates to about 214.00 per day. This is a little less than Rubin has announced, but four months ago there were about 200.000 activations per day. And when in October Steve Jobs announced about 270.000 iOS devices were being activated per day, Google probably decided to do everything to come to the “helm”.

The number of activated devices greatly depends on such devices like the Motorola Droid Pro or the Samsung Galaxy Tab, and according to the Samsung’s statement, they had sold almost one million Android powered units.
Though Android is on the second position in OS marathon, but Google has to worry, because Apple is doing its best to be the first. Currently it comes after Android leaving RIM behind.
