The Motorola Droid BIONIC and Droid 4 have been the only smartphones of the company that didn’t get leaked official ICS build. Now this “title” belongs only to the former, because an Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich ROM was leaked directly from Motorola.

When Motorola expanded the list of its devices to get ICS, the Droid 4 was there but the manufacturer didn’t mention any timing for it. This fact didn’t annoy people because those who were wishing to get ICS as soon as possible were sure there would be many custom ROMs just because the Droid 4 was rooted on the next day of its official launch.

This ROM seems to be the first ICS test build for the phone, and though it can harm your phone if you manage to install it on your Droid 4, we can be sure Motorola is working hard on the update. However, if you dare and install the ROM, you must note there is a chance the official Android 4.0 ICS update might not be compatible with this version.

Though Motorola is close to being acquired by Google and because of that it announces fewer smartphones than usual, no one says the company is dying and we mustn’t hear about novelties. At the moment, we have gladsome news for those who live in China as the manufacturer will launch a music-oriented smartphone in the country.

The newly announced handset is called the Motorola Motosmart MIX XT550. This device is designed especially for people who really care about music. A look at the device is enough to conclude that we are dealing with a smartphone that has all the necessary features to provide enjoyable music listening.

Besides the rich audio experience, it comes with a 4-inch touchscreen, a 3MP rear camera, a front-facing VGA camera, an 800MHz processor with 512MB of RAM, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, Dolby Mobile software, SRS WOW HD enhancements, an exclusive Sina Micro Music app and a 1750mAh battery providing up to 30 hours of music playback.

Unfortunately, other details remain unknown. In this regard, we can’t say it will be launched in other countries or not, and if yes, then when and at what price tag. All this is a matter of time, so be patient and we will keep you informed.

Verizon Wireless launched the Motorola Droid RAZR at $199 on contract. Its more powerful brother was launched via Big Red as well but because of its big battery it was sold for $299.99. Recently the carrier cut the prices for the former handset but it lasted only a couple of weeks. Now the Droid RAZR is back to its actual price tag. However, Big Red has decided to cut the Droid RAZR MAXX’s price by $100, and starting today the phone will cost you $199.99 on contract.

Of course, this is great news. Turns out there are only two devices in face of the iPhone 4S and the BlackBerry Bold 9930 that are sold at more than $199.99. But on the other hand, there is no sense in keeping the original Droid RAZR’s price at $199 because no one will buy it when another smartphone with better specs costs equal. Our assumptions Verizon will cut RAZR’s price are confirmed by TechCrunch’s source, which claims the RAZR outsold the iPhone with the lower price.

Anyway, the Droid RAZR is already available at Motorola for $99 on contract, and you can be sure Verizon will cut its prices too.

Yesterday Verizon Wireless made an amazing statement regarding the blue Droid RAZR. The handset will be launched in the US on May 17.

The device doesn’t differ from other color options (white, black and purple) in terms of hardware and software, thus, the blue Droid RAZR will be packed a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED qHD touchscreen protected by Gorilla Glass technology, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of native storage expandable up to 32GB, an 8MP camera with autofocus and LED flash, a 2MP frontal camera, and runs Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, though this model is in the list of smartphones that will get Ice Cream Sandwich update first.

Though the blue option of the Motorola Droid RAZR is available in select Verizon stores, its official launch date is a bit later. The price is the same as Big Red required for the original Droid RAZR, $99.99 after a $50 instant discount, and Verizon’s still selling it with double data, thus a 4GB monthly plan will cost you $30.

Motorola Cliq 2 owners have been waiting for Android 2.3 Gingerbread for several months now. The company even recruited 200 volunteers to test it. Now that everything is done successfully, the users can download and install the promised update, which seems to be the last piece of attention paid to this device.

The Cliq 2 was launched in the US almost a year ago with Android 2.2 Froyo on board. But the current smartphone market is too rough, and mid-range handsets like our hero can’t be competitive if they don’t run good software. Though the Cliq 2 doesn’t have such plans and it’s nothing more than a form of care towards the users, the phone deserves to run better software.

The update can be downloaded and installed with the help of Motorola Software Update tool, though there is no word about Linux or Mac users. Besides the software version change, the update also brings a bunch of device-specific fixes to battery-life, WiFi and the overall performance.

It’s not an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update (and Moto never promised to upgrade this phone to that version) but no one can speak against having a more stable device than the one the currently have. So get acquainted with the instructions through Motorola’s page and update your Cliq 2 to Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

The phone is also announced for UK and Germany launch where it’s expected to be available for purchase in mid-May. As of now, the Motorola RAZR MAXX continues its trip until it reaches Scandinavia, its next destination.

Motorola has announced the phone will be available in Denmark, Sweden and Norway. No pricing and exact launch date are announced but the company says the launch won’t be late. In all likelihood, Scandinavians will get their hands on the Motorola RAZR MAXX sometime this month.

The RAZR MAXX is currently the most powerful smartphone as its specs list includes a 4.3-inch qHD touchscreen, a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of native storage, an 8MP rear camera, a 1.3MP frontal camera and Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, which will later be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

It’s time for a new update leak for the Motorola Droid RAZR, and this time we have great news for the Droid RAZR users. You will finally get the Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The size of the update is pretty big, 343MB. The update (6.14.84) will work only if your phone is running the 6.12.181, the Android Gingerbread. The update will naturally bring a number of improvements. One of the most noticeable features is the speed, the phone will work much faster and smoother. You will also have a new CDMA radio, although there will be no change in LTE.

Another interesting enhancement is the incoming call management. Now, besides the call and ignore buttons, you’ll also have the option to answer with a text.

Thеsе were the major improvements, and I am sure the changelog will be much longer. If you have installed the update, share your experience and opinion. As with any other update, make sure your battery is full.

The update for the Motorola Droid 4 has already been rolled out. Although the users of this handset keep waiting for the Android 4.0 update, we all knew beforehand it wouldn’t be included in the upcoming update. Anyway, you should definitely check out the changelog, it might as well fix some of the most annoying issues on your phone.

Here are the most important points of this 18MB update (6.13.219). One of the main improvements listed in the changelog is the battery life and the touch and blank screen lockups. I can bet these were the two getting on your nerves the most. The rest of the changelog includes fixed Power On function, keypad backlight launch, a new MotoCast widget and so on. Visual Voice Mail notifications, text message delivery and WiFi connectivity are also improved.

Again, the update is already pushed out. If you haven’t received a notification on your Droid yet, try to check the update availability manually. And cross your fingers for the next update to bring the much expected Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Motorola RAZR MAXX will be packed with a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with a qHD resolution, a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of native storage, a 16GB card included in the box, a microSD card support, an 8MP camera with autofocus and LED flash, a 1.3MP camera on the front for web chat, a 3300mAh battery providing up to 21.5 hours of talk time and Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which will be updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, once it’s available for the rest of Moto devices. The phone features stainless steel and Kevlar body with 8.99mm thickness.

The price is not revealed yet but those who dream of having the Motorola RAZR MAXX can pre-order it right now at Motorola.

Motorola and Sprint are in a deep cooperation despite Verizon’s being Motorola’s closest partner. However, the latter didn’t prevent the former from launching several handsets last year. The most respectable was the Motorola Photon 4G. New rumors say the follow up to this handset is in works and will be introduced in coming months.

PocketNow claims the phone will be called the Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE. This is the case when we must rely on our experience and telepathic skills to “see” what features the handset will come with as nothing is mentioned about its specs list.

The name suggests the device will support Sprint’s 4G LTE network, which is a necessary feature since Verizon and AT&T are enlarging their 4G coverage. If Sprint wants to remain in the game, it must do the same. Moreover, “Q” might imply the sequel of the Motorola Photon 4G will be packed with a quad-core Tegra 3 chipset though the company was recently testing some S4 chipsets. We don’t have any other explanation, so now we choose to adhere to this idea.

Lastly, we hope Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and a kickstand will also be there.
