Motorola Atrix 2 and Original Atrix Comparison: Atrix 2 Wins

| November 3, 2011 | 0 Comments

The Motorola Atrix was the first smartphone supporting Lapdock functionality. This new feature impressed everybody. In case you don’t remember, Sanjay Jha introduced the device at CES 2011 back in January. At that time Jha also showed how the users must connect the phone to the Motorola Lapdock and display their phone’s content on a larger screen. After a while Motorola announced the next batch of smartphones supporting such a functionality, the Motorola Droid Bionic and the Photon 4G. We have talked about them and their Lapdock accessories for many times, so now let’s not focus on them.

Today we have another attractive topic of discussion — the Motorola Atrix 2. It’s the improved version of the original Atrix, and of course, it continues the best traditions in terms of Lapdock support. But there are changes and they are undoubtedly for the better.

Surfing on the net I came across an article showing the differences between the Atrix and the Atrix 2. Below are the most notable ones.

Both handsets, the original Atrix and the Atrix 2 sport qHD screens with the only difference that the Atrix 2 is packed with a 4.3-inch display compared with Atrix’s 4-inch one.

Unlike the Atrix’s 5MP camera, the improved model is powered with an 8MP camera able to record Full HD videos at 1080p.

The Motorola Atrix 2 comes with dimensions of 126x66x10mm and weighs 147g, while the original model measures 117.8×63.5x11mm and weighs 135g. As you see the weight difference is obvious, but it’s not conditioned by the battery; the newer version sports a 1,785 mAh one, while the original Atrix is packed with a 1,930-mAh battery. So we assume the main reason for it is the larger screen size.

The Motorola Atrix 2 supports Motorola Lapdock 100, which is the updated version of the lapdock, which was compatible with the original Atrix device.
