Motorola Droid RAZR vs Motorola Atrix 2: Comparison of 1080p HD Videos
Motorola’s last two flagships are the Droid RAZR and the Atrix 2. Both handsets are packed with best features and it’s difficult to give preference to one of them.
The Motorola Atrix 2 is the worthy successor of the original Atrix — the first handset supporting Motorola’s laptop dock. The Atrix 2 supports Motorola Lapdock 100. On the other hand, the Motorola RAZR is the thinnest smartphone supporting 4G LTE network. But despite the differences these two handsets have one feature that allows to compare them — their cameras. Both devices boast of an 8MP camera with an autofocus and LED flash.

The RAZR runs the same MotoBLUR version we had on the Droid 3 and the Droid Bionic, which means we meet the same camera interface. Thus when shooting we see we’re dealing with the viewfinder feature. There are also several keys on the left — on-screen shutter key, digital zoom controls and video mode toggle. Moreover, we can also find an accessible sliding bar that allows us to choose between shooting modes and different effects as well as get into settings.
All in all, we’re dealing with an 8MP camera, which is not so good when taking pictures under sunlight. The same happens when shooting indoors under artificial lighting. The flash faces focus difficulties when attempting to take shots in complete darkness. On the whole, we get good photos, but the presence of an 8MP camera becomes senseless because of the lack of a dual-LED flash.
Well, when it comes to recording videos, everything seems perfect, because the Droid RAZR is able to record Full HD videos at 1080p. Nevertheless, we were not that impressed after recording a video and watching it on the computer. The phone captures videos at the rate of 29 frames per second and records clear audio, but the picture looks flat and indistinct. Plus it lacks autofocus, but you can use touch focus instead.

As for the camera app, we can’t say anything new, because it is the same as that of the Droid Bionic and the Droid RAZR. In this case again, we have problems with taking photos under sunlight — the shots are filled with sharp looking details, but colors are often deceptively bland in appearance. The shutter speed is slower when shooting in low lighting, which is clearly seen in photos in which the overall quality is diminished. The same happens when trying to take photos in dark conditions, because the camera is not able to focus.
The Atrix 2 also can record videos at 1080p and according to some geeks, it’s more useful for this deal, though it records videos at the same rate, 29 frames per second. 1080p videos recorded by 8MP cameras are okay as long as we watch them on the little screens of smartphones, but problems come forth when we watch them on computers.
And lastly, I recommend that you watch two videos recorded by both handsets and share your thoughts with us in the comment block below.
