Motorola Xoom 2 and Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition Announced

| November 4, 2011 | 0 Comments

It’s here! Motorola finally launched the second version of the Motorola Xoom Android 3.0 tablet. This awesome novelty is called simply Motorola Xoom 2. But wait, this not the only good news. The manufacturer also introduced another tablet called Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition.

Basically these two products have the same specs. Both are equipped with Android 3.2 (there’s a chance they will be updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich), a 1.2 GHz TI processor, a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal flash storage.

The overall design of the tablets fits into the new design adopted in the Motorola RAZR and the Droid 4.

The main difference of the tablets is the display. In Motorola Xoom 2 we have a 10.1 inch display (similar to the original Xoom), while for the Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition we have a display of only 8.2 inches. Anyway both displays are announced to have HD resolution, while the manufacturer is not specific about the dimensions. Both tablets use Gorilla Glass technology for the protection of the displays.

The Motorola Xoom 2 comes with 8.8 mm thickness, while the Media Edition comes with 9 mm thickness. The battery for the Xoom 2 provides 10 hours of work time, while the slightly weaker battery of the Xoom 2 Media Edition provides only 6 hours of work time.

The tablets will be available in the UK and Ireland before the end of November. The Motorola Xoom 2 will be available at $625, while the Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition will be available at $575.
